halacha - Celebrating Thanksgiving and Hanukkah together

As far as the permissibility of celebrating Thanksgiving with a formal meal, that has been discussed in another question.

This year (2013), Thanksgiving coincides with Hanukkah. Some people have noted this and promote combining the two observances in entertaining ways.

Assuming for the sake of this question that it is permitted to celebrate Thanksgiving in the conventional way, does the convergence of Hanukkah and Thanksgiving complicate matters? Is it permissible to incorporate common Thanksgiving themes into Hanukkah observances, and vice versa? Furthermore, even if it is technically permitted, is it in bad taste or disrespectful to do so? Or does intermingling the two holidays add to rather than take away from the value of both?
